I am saddened by the inaction of the GOP over so many things, the illegal tariffs, unconstitutional acts by POTUS, usurpation of Congressional powers, blatant law breaking by the Demented Felon and so the damage of America’s status in the world. To me it speaks of cowardness, of frightened little people crawling and whining for their masters approval, and this is not the kind of person I want representing me, I can’t believe that’s what any one wants. So much of the right wing movement is spilling over with the strong man ethos, anyone else seen the Secretary of Defense strutting like a peacock in his preening false masculinity? But that’s not what I see on display in the Congress, doesn’t that embarrass you? I know it embarrasses and angers me.
What’s going on in Minneapolis, ICE attacks on communities, invasion by Federal forces, murder, will come to every city and village in this country if it’s not stopped now. We’ve seen the beginnings in L.A., D.C., Portland, without action by the people it’s coming.
I’m 82, and I’ve lived the major portion of my life in Portland Oregon as a citizen of the USA, but at heart I’m an immigrant. My immigrant ancestors came from Germany, Ireland, Scotland, Sweden and who knows where else. none of my immigrant forebearers had or needed a passport, almost all came before there was an immigration service, so I’m kind of concerned with the fascist like actions by this administration, led by the personalities of Miller, Nome and Holman. The single most obvious personality trait these three exhibit is callous disregard for human life and welfare and it’s a personality trait the is exhibited throughout the DHS.
The Demented Felon illegally attacked Venezuela for the oil resources which big oil ahs said is uninvest able and have basically said thank you but NO. If he persists in his actions toward Greenland it could result in the breaking of NATO. The mineral resources of Greenland are extremely difficult to access for a range of reasons, and while Greenland has encouraged American investment, there have been no takers, so what the hell is Demented grandpa shouting about?
“A strong fortress usually collapses from the inside” The USA is being eaten out from within, the GOP can stop this, but they have been working toward a strong presidency ever since the Regan era, each time they control the presidency they have gathered more and more power in the presidency and weakened the Congressional branch, until the Congress is a hollow husk. “The Rule of Law” is a real high falutin’ sounding phrase, but what it means is that we as a society enact laws and then we’re expected to abide by those same laws to keep things running smoothly. Now you or I may have a problem with any given law, but there are rules to address that, so when we hear the phrase “Rule of Law” it’s a base line of how to live. The Rule of Law has always been an impediment to the Demented Felon so he ignores it when ever he wants to. This has flowed through our society nowhere more so than in the DOJ. Which is a problem of catastrophic proportions, because what do we do when we cant trust law enforcement. I know there are segments of society that have dealt with this for decades, members of society that have only been able to expect justice in the last few years and others that still don’t receive justice before the law.
This is not mean that we as a country should give up on the Rule of Law, this country and it’s promise has always been about improvement and hope and we cannot give up because of the actions of one Demented Felon toddler and his enablers. There will always be challenges in life and in the life of a nation. We can get through this possibly without essential damage to the nation, it will take decades if not longer to recover our society but that’s how we’ve always liv 6 26ed.

Much of the talk on line today is about the social-media posts by the Demented Felon that are considered racist, I’m not to bothered all that much because it’s the kind of thing I would expect from an alleged man like him. I am much more bothered by other actions he takes hourly that are direct attacks on the Constitution and our rights, the continuous stripping away at the laws of the country, at the military that is more and more inserted into our cities and the continued destruction of daily life. The Demented Felon is the one entity that I wish dead, while Vance would be no better, I believe the miasma in the White House would be effected and that might be for the best.

All religions have a central tenant, to not hurt others. I think the writer Heinlein said it well, “the greatest sin is hurting other people, hurting yourself isn’t sinful, its just stupid”. It is amazing to me that we haven’t internalized that yet. Through all the centuries we have to keep re-learning such a simple thing. Don’t hurt people, seems simple to me. From that simple idea leads to many other ideas, help folks in need, don’t take things that are for someone else, and so much more. But what we’ve yet to learn is to not accept or deal with anyone that doesn’t follow the first basic idea.

What the hell is Habeas Corpus and why it matters to each and every person in the country.
In simple terms, habeas corpus (Latin for “you have the body”) is a legal right that allows a person in custody to demand that a court review their imprisonment and determine if it’s lawful, preventing the government from holding someone indefinitely without cause.
It’s important remember that habeas corpus is there for everyone, whether you’re a citizen or not, which means that if someone is a tourist they still due legal representation if law enforcement arrests them. That isn’t what’s happening in the country right now, thousands have been imprisoned with laughably thin reasons, and they have no access to legal counsel, most of them don’t even know haw to get it.
Now I know folks have been told that entering the country with out documentation, it’s not, it’s at worst a civil infraction, rather like getting a traffic ticket. So why are these thousands of men, women and children being denied habeas corpus for months at a time, is it because they’re the “worst of the worst”? or is because some twisted little twerp hates anyone that doesn’t look like him?

I spent the afternoon scanning videos of the Congressional committee trying to question the purported AG Pam Bondi, the impression I got of her was of a mad dog Screaming at everyone, slathering and foaming at the mouth. I have noticed as you may have that true MAGA believers hold hundreds of contradictory points of view, most of which are contradictory. it’s a human condition which persists in spite of all common sense. Unfortunately much of this belief centers around the Demented Felon and his stupidity, and supports his actions no matter how horrendous they may be. I wish there was some way that could be remedied, something one could do or say to wake those folks from the continuing nightmare. If any one has any idea or method to do this please speak out. I’m not sure the GOP has had a new thought in the last 5 decades, every time the party tries to do something it’s either hurtful to folks, or enriches it’s wealthiest patrons. They spent the time trying to undo the ACA, limit folks access to the ballot, screwing with the tax laws to make it easier for millionaires to become billionaires and controlling the publics access to facts, There has been a concerted effort to dumb down the voters, to starve them of truth. It was the Regan administration that really got the ball rolling on the idea that Government is the problem and can’t and won’t do anything to help. Building mistrust, telling anyone that would listen that voting is useless because both parties are corrupt, and shifting power to the “Unitary Executive” to take more and more rights away from “common” folk.
“We declare these truths to be self evident,” is one of the greatest sentences in the English language, and what follows should be a guide to every American, to strive to, but the “Conservative” mind set has done everything to kill that hope, and is coming close achieving their goal. The American Dream is powerful because it is a dream that has the ability of being realized, and it is precisely that Dream that the GOP is trying to squash. We live by our dreams, our hopes, our vision, to take all that away from a people is evil.

SCOTUS has struck down the Demented Felon’s tariffs, so when will we see our refund of the one hundred sixty Billon dollars that might be paid out. The answer is that those of us that aren’t corporations, or billionaires aren’t going to see jack squat, and as an added benefit that absolutely NONE of the prices that were raised because of the tariffs will come down. Prices never go down.

We live in a country where almost every city and municipality have infrastructure problems specifically with sewage and fresh water, so the Demented Felon’s DHS is trying to buy or build multi-thousands people concentration camps based in various buildings or warehouses’. I’m curiousious about first and foremost who are the proposed inmates of these camps, and second how do they propose to run them without clean water or sewage services. One of the things the mostly republican and tea-party folks ran around with their hair on fire because the Dems were going to build prison camps for all the good americans of the “right kind”. So if DHS wants to establish hundreds of prison camps all over the country, and at the same time deport millions of folks to other countries, who the hell are they planning to put into all those prison cells?

There are all sorts of folk sweating bullets about AI, and the changes that will inevitably come, the changes to the job market. No I don’t think AI will take over the world, it won’t replace true creative work. Songs can be written by machines, but they simply won’t have soul. Poems will be leaps of constructed by AI, but only the mind of a person can create something truly unique. AI cannot replace the human element if any endeavor, simply because it can’t create the leaps of intuition that the human mind is capable of. I suppose what I’m saying is that AI ain’t got no soul. Anything AI produces is something that is a collections of previously words and ideas made by the mind of man.

“Trust is built on consistency” a phrase from a story about a village of women, but a statement that applies throughout society. We trust those that are constant in their acts and beliefs, and that makes for a harmonious life. The Demented Felon is anything but consistent other than in his greed, he says he likes chaos, and it serves him well. But our society cannot exist with constant chaos, the ground itself churns at our feet upsetting all our plans, fear and chaos stalk our streets in the form of our own government, and there is no peace nor trust to be had. I sit in my house, quiet, sunny, relatively peaceful, but my neighboring montessori school has lost many of it’s students of color due to the unrest in the country and I cannot be easy in such a circumstance, my whistle is always at hand as is my outrage. We, as a society cannot continue in this manner, it is unsustainable, it is exhausting. Constant resistance is debilitating but seems to be the only option open to us at least until the Mid-term elections when some redress is possible. Stay strong, stay alert, stay involved there is at least a flickering light at the end of this.

On this the last day of the shortest month, at the beginning of a period of major instability in the world and our country, I find myself disheartened, and ashamed of the country as a whole. The current administration dominated by the Demented Felon has begun an unnecessary attack on a adversary country in cahoots with the highly questionable “leader” of Israel. To be clear the retaliatory actions will not be felt most severely by our country, other than those people that are in the region, no Isreal will bear the brunt of any answer Iran or it’s subsidiaries gives, this does not make the actions any easier to accept. It is depressing to me to see once again the power of the U.S. used to impose the administration’s will on an other country, as it is to watch it being imposed on my neighbors. I have difficulty understanding the wish to move to an armed conflict, or indeed any kind of conflict that could be better resolved by other means.

Interesting, in December Texass changed all it’s voting Districts at the behest of the Demented Felon. that means all new voter maps needed to be published, but the web site still hasn’t been updated, which means if you need to know where your voting precinct is you are SOL. Now this may not seem to be all that important to folks here in Oregon where our precinct is wherever you want to fill out your mail-in ballot, but in Texass it’s vitally important, especially in the Dallas County , because the voters HAVE to cast their ballots in specific percints or they get turned away, which is exactly what has happened, so there are thousands of votes that were cast late under the assumption that under a court ruling the polls were supposedly open until 9 pm. The Texass A.G. republican Paxton asked the Supreme Court(Texass) to stay the order to maintain the Democratic polls open till 9pm which the SC did, so any Democratic votes cast after 7pm have had their ballots “sequestered” and it’s anyone’s guess if those citizens will be granted the right to vote. This is going to be one hell of a mess, and GAWD am I grateful to be in a mail-in voting state.

There was a time not that long ago when all the “serious” people were absolutely apoplectic over the affect of violent video games on the children of the nation, but it seems that the real danger is it’s effect on the administration. I’ve seen numeral reactions to military action by quite a few different administrations but I’ve never seen one that treats us to an amalgam of video game screen shots, film clips and real time video of an illegal war presented as justification to attack and kill thousands of people. It would seem that violent video games and TV has a fancification of adolescent minds, no matter how old folks are.

Folks, there are things the Demented Felon does that are Just Weird and that is just depressing, this is honestly the ONLY thing that has surprised me about him in the last 13 years. Colbert revealed Tuesday night that his weirdness has taken to guessing his cabinet members shoe size and then ordering them hyper-shiney Florsheims in the size he guessed, this has resulted in some hilarious photos, like Rubio wandering around in shoes 3-4 sizes to LARGE, and the funniest thing is that none of the people that received the shoes are afraid not to ware them around him.
